The renowned British historian Alan Bullock once said that Berlin, for better or worse, more accurately portrayed the history of the 20th century than any other city in the world. It was in this hotbed of historical activity that I chose to base my operations. From 1986 to 2000, I produced over 250 news reports for American and European TV networks before moving into the studio to anchor/moderate news programs.

Looted WWII Art
German authorities are still unable to find the true owners of many paintings seized from an apartment near Munich in October 2013. They believe over a third of the 12-hundred works of art could have been stolen by members of the Nazi regime in the 1930s and 40s. The paintings have been listed on the internet, but determining ownership is not easy.”

Gestapo Müller
Berlin prosecutors are convinced they have discovered the remains of Heinrich Müller, the former head of the Gestapo secret police who disappeared from Berlin in the final days of WWII. And now, more alarmingly, they say his remains are buried in a Jewish cemetary in Berlin. Skeptics doubt the claims of prosecutors and believe Müller escaped from Berlin and lived out his life in Argentina.

Partytown West Berlin
Berlin health officials are concerned about the high number residents in western Berlin who smoke and drink regularly. According to sociologists, the habit of drinking regularly and frequently in excess is related to the city’s political history – the wars, the occupation and subsequent division. To attract people to the Western Sector, officials permitted many bars and restaurants to keep their doors open all night long.
